Extraordinary Business - Governing Body Presentation

That the Howick Local Board:

a)         consider an item of extraordinary business regarding a presentation of the Howick Local Board at the next meeting of the Governing Body to raise concerns about regional bio security and hard stand amenity, for the reason that the landing at Okahu Bay is closing on the 28th of February, costing $3 million. This is triggered by the closing of Pier 21 and the imminent closing of Shoal Bay and the Landing and the existing bio security threats that could enter the Tāmaki Estuary if infected boats travel to our hard stand facilities.

Draft Contributions Policy 2022, Variation A

MOVED by Chairperson D Light, seconded by Deputy Chairperson B Burns:  

That the Howick Local Board:

a)         endorse the draft contributions policy 2022 as recommended by council officers.

b)        note that the feedback from the developers that this contribution makes these developments more expensive is moot as these contributions should make housing intensity development more attractive elsewhere – such as in places where there are better public transport networks, closer to places of work and prevent urban sprawl.

c)         request that the contributions from Botany & Flat Bush be calculated and this money be adjusted to current inflation rates and ring fenced for the swimming pool and library at Flat Bush.

22.1

Extraordinary Business - Governing Body Presentation

 

Resolution number HW/2023/24

MOVED by Member B Kendall, seconded by Member D Collings:  

That the Howick Local Board:

a)         present at the next Governing Body meeting to raise concerns about regional maritime biosecurity – in particular some recent decisions regarding hard stand amenities in Auckland and the potential effects on the Tāmaki Estuary.

b)        request that Council put a halt on all decisions and actions around coastal hard stand amenity closures until a review is undertaken that addresses the Board’s concerns.

c)         request that this decision be distributed to all 20 other local boards.

a)      receive the performance report for quarter one ending 31 December 2022.

b)      note the financial performance report in Attachment B of the agenda report will remain confidential until after the Auckland Council Group half-year results for 2022/2023 are released to the New Zealand Exchange (NZX), which are expected to be made public on 28 February 2023.
