1 Nau mai | Welcome
Chairperson I Fordham opened the meeting and welcomed everyone in attendance. Deputy Chairperson P O’Shea led the hui in a karakia.
Note: The Chairperson requested a minute’s silence in respect of those throughout Aotearoa affected by cyclone Gabrielle.

Resolution number GBI/2023/2 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Member C Ollivier: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) confirm the ordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Tuesday, 6 December 2022 and the extraordinary minutes of its meeting, held on Tuesday, 7 February 2023 as true and correct.

Resolution number GBI/2023/3 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson P O'Shea, seconded by Member C Ollivier: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) acknowledge Cushla Buchanan, Manager Great Barrier Island Service Centre for her outstanding work in managing the island’s emergency management response and recovery to the recent floods and cyclone Gabrielle. She logged extremely long hours and provided clear and effective communications, on behalf of the Emergency response team, to the community and internal agencies. b) acknowledge our local roading contractors and arborists who worked tirelessly to keep our roading network clear and safe in response and recovery to the recent floods and cyclone Gabrielle. c) thank the Aotea Emergency Response Team for all their hard work in the response and recovery of the recent floods and cyclone Gabrielle, in particular the police, Department of Conservation, Aotea Health Trust, Aotea Family Support Group and all other service providers who have supported the community. d) acknowledge Izzy Fordham, chairperson of the local board, for the hard work and long hours she has given, as part of the emergency response team, to support the island through the recent flood and cyclone Gabrielle events.

Resolution number GBI/2023/8 MOVED by Chairperson I Fordham, seconded by Member C Ollivier: That the Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board: a) approve the name ‘Wāraki Way’ for an existing private road created by way of subdivision at 5 Oruawharo Lane, Great Barrier Island in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974. b) note that the local board received no feedback from mana whenua on the recommended name.
