Resolution number WTK/2023/23 MOVED by Chairperson G Presland, seconded by Member S Coney: That the Waitākere Ranges Local Board: a) whakaae / acknowledge the passing of June Henderson, a prominent member of Waitākere's community environmental sector who dedicated her later years to protecting the local environment. She was the main driver behind the new resident’s pack which contains information on local community groups as well as information concerning weeds and pests. She was known as the "Ginger Lady" because of her efforts in raising awareness of the curse of Ginger to the local environment and also as the "Possum Lady", for her work on eradicating possums which included distributing possum tracks from her home and educating people on the threats they presented. |

Resolution number WTK/2023/24 MOVED by Chairperson G Presland, seconded by Member M Allen: That the Waitākere Ranges Local Board: a) whai / adopt the park service outcomes plan for Waitipu at 99 Te Henga Road, Waitākere Valley, with the addition of a stronger focus on filming to inform future development of the park. b) tautoko / support progression of actions which will enable the safe opening of the site. c) tono / request that Parks and Community Facilities staff investigate and report back on partnership opportunities, particularly with the film industry, to progress actions from the plan, in the context of council’s current financial position. d) tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that Waitākere City Council’s Ten-Year Plan published in 2009 contains the following passage: “The Waitakere Quarry Aftercare Fund (WQAF) has been established to finance the reinstatement of the quarry back to native forest and regenerating bush: · The WQAF goal is currently set at $2 million at the conclusion of quarry operations in 2017 · A sum of $115,000.00 is allocated to this fund annually to achieve this target amount · The opening balance of the fund at the beginning of 2008 was $905,000 · This rate of annual contribution will result in a fund value of $2,055,000 in the 2016/2017 financial year.” e) tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that Council has previously declined to accept that the sum accumulated in the fund should be applied to the restoration of the site. f) takarure / reiterate its request that the funds collected be made available for remediation of the site on the basis that: i) the funds were collected for the specific purpose of the remediation of the site ii) the local community was promised that the fund was available for the remediation of the site. g) tono/ request that these resolutions be circulated to the Mayor and members of the Governing Body. h) tono/ request that these resolutions be circulated to Iwi, stakeholders and all participants. |

Resolution number WTK/2023/25 MOVED by Chairperson G Presland, seconded by Member L Potauaine: That the Waitākere Ranges Local Board: a) whakaae / approve the names ‘Taunoka Lane’ and ‘Tāwheowheo Close’ for a new private road and public road created by way of the subdivision being undertaken by Neat Property Services Limited at 8 Yelash Road, Massey in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent references BUN60068681 SUB60068575-A and RDN90106211). |

Resolution number WTK/2023/26 MOVED by Chairperson G Presland, seconded by Deputy Chairperson M Clayton: That the Waitākere Ranges Local Board: a) whakarite / provide the following feedback on the evaluation of the Auckland Council local elections 2022: i) support a combination of postal and booth voting to accommodate special votes and those who wish to cast a vote on the last day of the local election ii) support moving responsibility for running local elections to the Electoral Commission to reduce duplication and costs to councils, and enable a nationally coordinated drive to improve voter turnout with local tailoring iii) request process improvements to ensure that those whose names are withheld from the public electoral role for privacy reasons are still able to vote, as this was reported to have been an issue in the 2022 election iv) request that considering the low turn-out, marketing be reviewed to create a more targeted approach that actively encourages our diverse communities to participate and vote in local elections. |
