6 Te Mihi | Acknowledgements
The Waiheke Local Board acknowledge the passing of Gregory Fulton Fowlds, a much-liked member of the Waiheke community. Through his role with the Waiheke Amateur Radio Club, Gregory added great value to the civil defence and emergency management capability of Waiheke.
It is a fitting tribute to Gregory’s enduring work on behalf of our community that the board recently approved some funding to support the relocation of the civil defence capacity of the Waiheke Amateur Radio Club to share the Waiheke Radio facilities in the Artworks precinct.

Resolution number WHK/2023/39 MOVED by Chairperson C Handley, seconded by Member P Walden: That the Waiheke Local Board: b) thank Christian Hoff-Nielsen for presenting on behalf of E-Cycles NZ regarding the lease tender process at Mātiatia. c) request Auckland Transport to take no further action to execute the e-bike Mātiatia license to occupy or lease. d) request Auckland Transport provide all documents relating to current leasing history and agreement to lease/license the space.

Seeking views on the proposed approach for Katoa, Ka Ora - Speed Management Plan for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024-2027 |

Resolution number WHK/2023/41 MOVED by Member K Matthews, seconded by Deputy Chairperson B Ranson: That the Waiheke Local Board: a) provide the following feedback on how the Waiheke Island speed management changes made in December 2022 are progressing, and any further areas that could be improved: i) variable speed limits of 30km/h around Waiheke Primary School and lower speeds near Fossil Bay School, ii) speed management along Sea View Road, iii) speed management along Cory Road, iv) speed management along Mako Street, v) Ocean View Road eastern end, extending speed limit to Moa Road, vi) further speed treatments in Belgium Street, Ostend, to slow traffic, vii) speed management near the Placemakers corner, Ostend, viii) further Surfdale safety measures, ix) additional red pavement markings close to townships, x) importance of messaging to support the changes and help encourage people to comply with the speed limits, xi) note compliance and enforcement is necessary and this will require police liaison, xii) note safety impacts of car speed for cycling safety across the island and the need for safe off-road cycleways, and; xiii) integration of all speed initiatives within the approved Waiheke Transport Design Guide. |

Resolution number WHK/2023/42 MOVED by Chairperson C Handley, seconded by Member K Matthews: That the Waiheke Local Board: a) receive the report on Watercare’s Waiheke Servicing Strategy. b) request Watercare to re-present the strategy after the draft Waiheke Area Plan is formalised and adopted. c) suggest to Watercare that any proposal for a commercial reticulation anywhere on Waiheke should be proceeded by full public consultation specific to the proposal.
