Notice of Motion – Chair K Thomas – Opposal to the closure of Auckland Council's Henderson Customer Service Centre |

Resolution number WH/2023/27 MOVED by Chairperson K Thomas, seconded by Deputy Chairperson F Amosa: That the Whau Local Board: a) oppose the closure of Auckland Council’s Henderson Customer Service Centre at the Henderson Civic Centre and the relocation of services to the Waitākere Central Library. b) tuhi ā-taipitopito / note its concern on the significant proportion of Whau residents who will not be able to access online customer services or the Auckland Council call centre. c) acknowledge that librarians are information professionals but note that many constituent issues require expertise and a detailed knowledge of the workings of Auckland Council. d) tono / request that Customer and Community Services ensure that experienced, specialised customer service staff are relocated to the Waitākere Central Library should the Henderson Customer Service Centre at the Henderson Civic Centre be closed. e) tono / request that the specialised customer service staff be located at New Lynn Memorial Library to respond to the community needs, especially the elderly, disabled and migrant community. f) tono / request that the availability of customer services at New Lynn and Waitakere central libraries be well publicised. g) tono / request that these resolutions be circulated to the Henderson-Massey, Waitākere Ranges and Upper Harbour local boards. |

Local Board feedback on distribution method of the Local Crime Fund |

Resolution number WH/2023/31 MOVED by Chairperson K Thomas, seconded by Member W Piper: That the Whau Local Board: a) whakamihi / thank Watercare for the opportunity to provide feedback on the Wastewater Network strategy. b) tautoko / support the classification of the Whau River and Western Isthmus catchments as high priority areas. c) tautoko / support the improvement of wastewater infrastructure in the Whau local board area and look forward to reduced overflow events into our waterways as a result of this work. d) acknowledge the public education role Watercare has undertaken to provide information on how wastewater blockages can be avoided. e) tautoko / support Watercare’s work with Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters Department on the Safe Networks Programme. f) tono / request that, in the light of recent extreme weather events, work on the Safe Networks Programme is both expanded and accelerated. |

Seeking views on the proposed approach for Katoa, Ka Ora - Speed Management Plan for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024-2027 |

Resolution number WH/2023/32 MOVED by Chairperson K Thomas, seconded by Member S Zhu: That the Whau Local Board: a) whakamihi / thank Auckland Transport for the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed approaches for Katoa, Ka Ora, Speed Management Plan for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. b) tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that the proposed approach is going out for public consultation and request that the local board is given the opportunity to provide further views and feedback. c) view that Approach One the easy-to-understand approach would benefit the community but note that the local board has local knowledge to share that could help to the easy-to-understand approach and request the opportunity to provide further feedback. d) view that Approach Two the high benefit cost ratio approach would benefit the community but note that the local board has local knowledge to share that could help to improve the high benefit cost ratio approach and request the opportunity to provide further feedback. e) tono / request that partner and community requests be prioritised in Approach Three. f) tono / request that both high and low total percentage cover should be consulted on in this phase of the programme in Approach Four with the opportunity for the local board to provide further feedback. g) tono / request that approved changes are implemented early in the 2024-2027 plan in Approach Five with opportunity for the local board to provide further feedback. |
