Local Board Feedback on the proposed Integrated Auckland Transport Plan

Member P McGlashan abstained from voting on this item due to his declaration of interest.

A document was tabled for this item and will be available to view as a minutes attachment on the Auckland Council Website.

Resolution number MT/2023/50

MOVED by Member C Makoare, seconded by Deputy Chairperson D Burrows:

That the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board:

a)         Support the intent of a comprehensive and integrated Auckland transport plan to futureproof Auckland with a high-quality joined-up transport system, noting that:

a.            as a community with several live transport projects that often intersect, we are aware of the need for greater coordination in all aspects of the projects including planning, consultation, and development.

b.            projects need to be integrated in consultation and communication in a way that makes sense to the community.

b)         Note that the broad community approach and limited submission period did not provide adequate opportunity for Aucklanders to engage and for decision-makers to be equipped with the mandate to make the big decisions required for this plan.

c)     Note that endorsement cannot be assumed without more comprehensive consultation.

d)     Request that additional consultation is carried out with the public and local boards before finalisation of this plan, with greater detail and clarity to ensure the plan reflects our people and the community’s aspirations for the future of Auckland.

e)     Provide feedback as attached to support the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki community’s voice on the public consultation material.
