Context

3.       Progress to date on recruitment for a replacement Auckland Council Chief Executive has been as follows:

a)         in March 2023 Governing Body approved the recruitment approach, including:

i)     delegating power to the Performance and Appointments Committee to manage the remainder of the recruitment process, including interviewing the candidate long list and preparing a shortlist.

ii)    confirming that the Governing Body would interview shortlisted candidates.

b)         in April and May 2023 Governing Body discussed the position description and scope of the Chief Executive role.

c)         Sheffield Search (Executive Recruitment Agency) were appointed as our external partner to support the Performance and Appointments Committee and Governing Body with the recruitment process and their decision making.

d)         the role was advertised on Friday 30 June 2023 on Taituarā, Seek NZ and Australia, LinkedIn and the Sheffield website. Applications closed on 31 July 2023.

9.       The Chair of the IMSB is a member of the Performance and Appointments Committee and is participating in the committee’s involvement in the Chief Executive recruitment process.
