That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)          thank Reverend Strickson-Pua as a local resident and Presbyterian minister for thanking the board for acknowledging the conflict in Palestine.

Public Forum- Jan Robertson and Deb Davison - Pickleball at Blackpool Reserve

That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)          thank Jan Robertson and Deb Davison for speaking to the installation of a pickleball court on Waiheke.

b)          request Community Facilities report back to the opportunity to use a corner of the Blackpool Reserve concrete pad or alternative sites for a pickleball court.

Staff advice relating to the raising of the Palestinian flag

 

Resolution number WHK/2023/158

MOVED by Member P Walden, seconded by Member R Tucker:  

That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)          whiwhi / receive staff advice on flying the Palestinian flag at Auckland Council offices on Waiheke Island.

b)          tuhi ā-taipitopito / note correspondence received regarding resolution WHK/2023/165.

c)          restate the earlier resolution to fly the Palestinian flag in solidarity with Palestinian communities and note that this in no way condones the actions of Hamas or any other militant party.

d)          amend the dates for the Palestinian flag to be flown from 13 December 2023 to 13 January 2024 and that this recognises the date of the UN resolution seeking an immediate ceasefire in Palestine.

Kennedy Point Marina Maritime Trust Advisory Committee appointees

 

Resolution number WHK/2023/159

MOVED by Member R Tucker, seconded by Member K Matthews:  

That the Waiheke Local Board:

a)          delegate to the Chair to liaise with mana whenua on the nominations that align with the Kennedy Point Marina Maritime Trust Charter criteria and forward final nominees to the Settlor.

 

CARRIED

 

Member K Matthews left the meeting at 2.09pm.

The meeting adjourned at 2:09pm and reconvened at 2:11pm. Member K Matthews was not present.

Member K Matthews returned to the meeting at 2:11pm

Cr M Lee joined the meeting at 2:14pm.

That the Waiheke Local Board:

whakaae / agree to exclude the public from the following part(s) of the proceedings of this meeting.

The general subject of each matter to be considered while the public is excluded, the reason for passing this resolution in relation to each matter, and the specific grounds under section 48(1) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 for the passing of this resolution follows.

This resolution is made in reliance on section 48(1)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 and the particular interest or interests protected by section 6 or section 7 of that Act which would be prejudiced by the holding of the whole or relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting in public, as follows:
