The Chair opened the meeting and welcomed everyone present.

Acknowledgement - Willemien Thom on Her Retirement From Auckland Council

That the Howick Local Board:

a)          whakamihi / acknolwedge and thank Willemien Thom for her 19 years of service to the community working in Auckland Council and its predecessors. Most recently Willie has been the Personal Assistant and Office Manager for the Howick Local Board, providing an exceptional level of service to both elected members and the local community. We wish her the best in her well-deserved retirement.

Acknowledgement - Emeritus Professor Edith Marion Jones, ONZM

MOVED by Chairperson D Light, seconded by Deputy Chairperson B Burns:  

That the Howick Local Board:

a)          whakamihi / acknowledge and congratulate Emeritus Professor Edith Marion Jones on her appointment as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Years Honours 2024 for services to education. A resident of Northpark, Professor Jones has contributed to education in New Zealand and internationally for four decades including 19 years at Auckland University of Technology as an Associate Dean and then Dean.

Deputation - Steve Harding

 

Bucklands Beach resident Steve Harding was in attendance to discuss their proposed addition of a disc golf course to Lloyd Elsmore Park.

 

A PowerPoint presentation was given. A copy of the PowerPoint has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

Mike Bongiovanni and Paul Wansbone of the Howick Pakuranga Baseball Club were in attendance to discuss the ongoing affairs of the Club.

Auckland Council’s Performance Report: Howick Local Board for quarter two 2023/2024

MOVED by Chairperson D Light, seconded by Member P Young:  

That the Howick Local Board:

a)      receive the performance report for quarter two ending 31 December 2023.

b)      note the financial performance report in Attachment B of the agenda report will remain confidential until after the Auckland Council Group half-year results for 2023/2024 are released to the New Zealand Exchange (NZX), which are expected to be made public on 28 February 2024.
