Auckland Council submission in response to the Draft Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2024 |

Resolution number TICCC/2024/28 MOVED by Mayor W Brown, seconded by Deputy Chairperson C Fletcher: That the Transport and Infrastructure Committee: a) whakaae / approve the Auckland Council group submission to the Draft Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2024, contained as Attachment B, inclusive of any minor edits / corrections b) tautapa / delegate authority to the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Transport and Infrastructure Committee, a member of Houkura Independent Māori Statutory Board and the Mayor, to approve the final submission.

The motion was declared carried by 16 votes to 3. |

Note: Under Standing Order 1.8.6, Cr D Newman requested his dissenting vote be recorded against the Integrated Transport Plan (ITP) recommendations i) and ii) in Attachment B for the following reasons: · fails to sufficiently acknowledge the significant economic benefits for the Roads of National Significance (RONS), including the contribution to the resilience of transport and stormwater infrastructure; · appears to close the door to discussion about the opportunity to advance bespoke transport solutions that encourage multi-modal outcomes such as a bus priority corridor, carpooling, and cycling (if grade separation exists within the corridor); and · makes no reference to the settled Notice of Requirement (NoR) processes, which have been undertaken to date. |
