A video and presentation was provided.  A copy of the presentation is attached to the agenda available on the Auckland Council website and a copy of the video is available to download here.

Draft Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) 2024 for consultation

Note:   the following motion was moved and seconded, adding new clauses b) – f) to the original report recommendation.

 

MOVED by Deputy Mayor D Simpson, seconded by Deputy Chairperson C Fletcher:  

That the Transport and Infrastructure Committee:

a)    ohia / endorse the draft Regional Land Transport Plan 2024-2034 for public consultation.

b)    tono / request Auckland Transport to update Auckland Council’s transport components in the draft RLTP following decisions made by the Governing Body when adopting the Long-term Plan 2024-2034.

c)     tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that the Auckland Council funding for the transport components of the RLTP are reliant on funding approval by the Governing Body and endorsement of the draft RLTP for consultation does not bind council to funding any particular aspects of the draft plan.

d)    tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that grade separation of Level Crossings has been identified as a high priority.

e)    tono / request Auckland Council staff, working collaboratively with Auckland Transport, to provide advice on how to enhance Auckland Council’s control and oversight over the Auckland Transport capital programme, especially the parts of the programme funded or part-funded by Auckland Council, using existing powers provided for under legislation.

f)      recommend to the Mayor and Budget Committee that they consider how Auckland Council’s Long-Term Plan 2024-2034 could signal its intent to exercise greater oversight over the council’s share of the funding for Auckland Transport capital programme and preserve optionality for council to make decisions following any advice received per (e).

 

Note:   following discussion, clause c) of the motion was removed with the agreement of the mover and seconder.
