We   thank Ngāti Paoa, Ruapotaka Marae, Te Oro, Glen Innes Library, Māori Wardens and the many volunteers for contribution and support the four-day event. On the last night volunteers counted 38,000 participants in attendance on Saturday 6th July. Congratulations team on another successful Matariki in Glen Innes.

Note: under point 19 in the report for the land exchange at Boundary Johnson Reserve; a correction has been made for 4 Sanda Road, Panmure, the area should be 543m² rather than 534m².

Revision of the Tāmaki Land Exchange Schedule

a)    whakaae/approve the revised Land Exchange Schedule for Tāmaki Precinct as prescribed in Appendix 2.

Kōkiri Agreement 2024-2025 - A plan for Auckland Transport project and programme engagement

That the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board:

a)         endorse the levels of engagement established by Auckland Transport in the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Kōkiri Agreement 2024-2025 with the following comments or requests.

b)         request the following projects are added to the next quarterly update of the kōkiri agreement, as advocacy items:

                    i)         accommodate for increased patronage from the Maungakiekie community of Penrose due to impacts from City Rail Link once completed and the reduced service on the Onehunga Line. Improvements to accommodate for increased patronage include:

A)    upgrading Penrose train station, to improve safety, protection from the weather and attractiveness of the station

B)    providing additional frequent public transport routes from Onehunga, through Oranga to Penrose

                   ii)         deliver an integrated and accessible transport hub in Onehunga that accommodates future growth.

                 iii)         Provide safe and reliable transport routes from Riverside to Ōtāhuhu and Sylvia Park, so that local residents can easily commute to the nearest train stations and shops, noting that this is referring to the Panama/Riverside community, who have provided feedback to the local board about their difficulties to access local services via public transport, and where currently only the 323 services this community.

c)         request the following project is added to the next quarterly update of the kōkiri agreement, as consult:

fund a trial of closing off Orpheus Drive overnight to prevent anti-social behaviour in Taumanu Reserve and the Manukau Cruising Club car park noting that Auckland Transport have provided updated advice regarding this matter.

a)      rescind part of its decision made on 22 November 2022 (MT/2022/164):

a) kopou / appoint Deputy Chairperson D Burrows as the nominated contact, and Chairperson M Meredith as the alternate, for staff consultations over landowner approval applications (excluding applications for filming and events)

b)      rescind part of its decision made on 22 November 2022 (MT/2022/163):

a) kopou / appoint a representative and alternate to each of the external organisations listed in Appendix A for the 2022-2025 triennium.

Local Board Input into Council's submission on Making it easier to build granny flats (MBIE)

 

Resolution number MT/2024/113

MOVED by Member C Makoare, seconded by Member D Allan:  

That the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board:

a)         note the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Plan encourages well-planned and sustainable infrastructure that supports our growth and advocates for equity and accessibility to be the overarching principles of decision-making

b)         support in principle, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Ministry for the Environment’s proposal, Making it easier to build granny flats (2024), to increase the supply of affordable and multigenerational homes for our communities

c)         note there are concerns regarding the impact these dwellings could have on public infrastructure and recommend that:

                        i)         councils should continue to have oversight over applications for additional dwellings. This will allow Council to plan and fund infrastructure, including social infrastructure, and monitor housing growth.

                       ii)         there is a level of reporting for environmental concerns, such as adverse effects to the environment.
