Refreshing the Regional Pest Management Plan

 

Panel members asked questions and provided feedback on the information provided.

 

The Ethnic Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      whiwhi / received the update on the Regional Pest Management 2030-2040 review.

b)      whakarite / provided feedback on how the RPMP may be of interest to or affect ethnic communities, and how to best tailor an early engagement approach to suit the needs of ethnic communities.

Presentation from Hon Melissa Lee, Minister for Ethnic Communities

 

Key points were:

i)            Civic education.

ii)          Better diversity and inclusion practices.

iii)         Better and transparent evidence and data.

a)      whakamihi / thanked Hon. Melissa Lee for her presentation to the Ethnic Communities Advisory Panel.

Discussion with Hon Melissa Lee, Minister for Ethnic Communities

 

Questions and comments were taken on:

i)            Providing support to industries to embrace global experiences of migrants.

ii)          Government recommendations to policy advisors regarding the presence of anti-discrimination policies versus how they are enforced.

iii)         Education on and promotion of water safety.

iv)         Perception of Asian people in Aotearoa; such as titles of ethnic groups as the ethnicity versus ‘migrant’; and multiculturalism.

v)           Sustainable and culturally responsive services and supports.

vi)         Bridging the information gap of supports and guidance for small businesses grassroots organisations.

 

The Ethnic Communities Advisory Panel:

a)      tautoko / supported a facilitated discussion with Minister Lee, panel members, and any members of the public in attendance.

b)      whakamihi / thanked Hon. Melissa Lee for her time and engagement with the panel and the public..
