In addition, Mike Gillooly, National Emergency Management Agency, NZ (NEMA) provided a verbal update on the recent Budget announcement and its effect on NEMA and on Emergency Management Reform.
Cr K Turner retired from the meeting at 10.32am.
Note: Chair Cr Stewart reported that she had received an email from Fire Emergency New Zealand around their research on intensification and the report they had published in 2023, Te Hiku intensifications research. Cr Stewart would meet with Cr Richard Hills, Chair of the Policy and Planning Committee to discuss the committee’s interest in ensuring access for emergency services in our built environment. Cr Stewart would request Cr Hills to consider asking Fire Emergency New Zealand to present their report and findings at a future Policy and Planning Committee meeting.
