Cr K Leoni acknowledged the passing of Kiingi Tuuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII and his wonderful contribution to his iwi, Waikato-Tainui, and Māori particularly throughout the region. On behalf of the Auckland Council, we extend our condolences to Kiingi Tuuheitia’s whaanau, Waikato-Tainui, and all the communities who are mourning this loss.

 

A moments silence was observed.

City Rail Link Update - September 2024

 

John Bridgman, Board Chair and Sean Sweeney, Chief Executive - City Rail Link Ltd, provided a presentation.  A copy is attached to the agenda and is available on the Auckland Council website.

 

Deputy Mayor, Cr D Simpson acknowledged Dr Sean Sweeney’s significant contribution towards the construction of the City Rail Link and to the city of Auckland.

 

Mayor W Brown entered the meeting at 10.12am.

Cr K Turner entered the meeting in person at 10.16am

Cr S Stewart joined the meeting at 10.20am.

Cr M Lee joined the meeting at 10.25am.
Cr S Stewart left the meeting at 10.26am.

a)         whiwhi / receive the September 2024 update on the City Rail Link project; and

b)         whakamihi / thank Dr Sean Sweeney for his service as Chief Executive Officer for City Rail Link Limited since 2018 and whakanuia / acknowledge his significant contribution towards the construction of the City Rail Link and to the city of Auckland.

Final report of the preparatory work for the Auckland Integrated Transport Plan

 

A presentation was given in support of the item and had been circulated to members prior to the meeting.  A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

That the Transport, Resilience and Infrastructure Committee:

a)         ohia / endorse the final report of the preparatory work for the Auckland Integrated Transport Plan, including, in particular, the emerging key findings and the next steps required to develop the plan itself.

b)         tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that this preparatory work reinforces the need for an integrated transport plan for Auckland, as part of a system-wide shift towards a more streamlined, co-ordinated and long-term approach to transport planning and funding.

c)      tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that the stocktake of future major transport projects, and the initial assessment of them against key council strategic outcomes, provides a foundation for further analysis and decision making to develop a prioritised 30 year programme.
