Workshops enable staff to explore options with elected members before ideas are fully developed, and to receive feedback and guidance on policy development or project design. No resolutions or decisions are made by elected members at workshops and so the requirements of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 relating to local authority meetings do not apply.

2. The following will be covered in the workshop:
Auckland Transport & Auckland Council Joint Review of Auckland’s Traffic-Related Bylaws Joemier Pontawe – Principal Policy Advisor, Integrated Network Planning, Auckland Transport Pippa Sheppard – Auckland Transport
1. Auckland Transport and Auckland Council both have powers to make traffic-related rules in Auckland. 2. The current rules are set out in several documents: Auckland Transport’s Traffic Bylaw 2012, Auckland Council’s Traffic Bylaw 2015 and Public Safety and Nuisance Bylaw 2013 (covering the use of vehicles on beaches). Auckland Transport and Auckland Council are conducting a review of these bylaws to identify efficiencies and possible improvements. 3. The findings report from the review of Auckland’s traffic-related bylaws was completed in June 2024 and was endorsed by the Regulatory and Community Safety Committee during its 02 July 2024 meeting. 4. At this workshop, Auckland Transport and Auckland Council staff seek informal views from Regulatory and Community Safety Committee members about the draft options and proposals.
