a)      acknowledge Glenn Boyd (Local Area Manager) for his years of hard mahi on the Manukau Harbour Forum.  Glenn has been the fount of all knowledge and a steady hand guiding the Forum throughout his time serving and has taken us to a great place.

Jeanie MacDonald - Manukau Habour Restoration Society Inc.

 

Jeanie MacDonald from the Manukau Harbour Restoration Society presented highlighting the following key points: Manukau Harbour water quality, Manukau Harbour Restoration Society’s attempt to review the discharge consent at Maangere Wastewater Treatment Plant, Hydrodynmic computational model, Request for review of consent 30083 Watercare Discharge.

 

A powerpoint presentation was provided.  A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

Elected Member Updates

 

Member Kay Thomas (Chair Whau Local Board) provided an update.  Her key points were that the Whau Local Board has asked for work programme advice for a collaborative initiative with Puketāpapa, Waitakere Ranges and Whau local boards across the Manukau Harbour foreshore.  She also advised members that an environmental volunteer group has recently been formed to work on the foreshore at Blockhouse Bay.  Lastly a community meeting with The Friends and Kaitiaki of Blockhouse Bay has been scheduled for Wednesday, 23 October 2024 at their local community centre.

Manukau Harbour Forum coordinator's report

 

Sophia Olo Whaanga was in attendance to speak to her report. 

Sophia spoke on the draft Wānanga Feedback Report and asked the Forum for approval for any minor edits to the document to then allow this work to progress to publishing and to be circulated to the community and the wider public.

That the Manukau Harbour Forum:

a)      whiwhi / receive the Manukau Harbour Forum co-ordinator’s report for October 2024.

b)      tautapa / delegate authority to the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Manukau Harbour Forum to approve any minor edits that may be necessary to the Wānanga Feedback Report prior to publication.

Note: correction to workshop record Item 3: Achieving Better Environmental Outcomes Update.  Staff member Andrew Bird (Senior Analyst NES) was present for this item not Ben Paris (Senior Conservation Advisor) as noted in the record.
