Local Board Workshop

[CONFIDENTIAL Healthy Waters – Making Space for Waters]

This workshop is being held with the public excluded (confidential) as the workshop commercial sensitivity regarding ongoing property buy-out negotiations and the wellbeing of impacted communities being protected.

Policy - Draft options and statement of proposal to improve the Cemeteries and Crematoria Bylaw and Code 2014

Proposed Outcome/s:   Provide feedback on policy options

 

The local board was provided with an introduction to the proposed changes.

 

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·        Clarified no change to approval process for burials and cremations.

·        Clarified the option to defer report to next year.

 

Next Steps:

·        November business meeting report to provide feedback

·        Go to the regulatory committee in December

·        Consultation in February 2025

·        Local Board response to public feedback mid – 2025.

Auckland Transport - Forward Works Programme Engagement (FWEP)

The local board was provided with an introduction to the AT Forward Works Programme Engagement.

 

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·        Clarified Local Board Transport Capital Fund budget yet to be confirmed.

·        Make sure there is a path to deliver Francis-Esmonde link.

·        Noted frustration at losing previous Local Board Transport Capital Fund money from carrying over budget to the next term. Staff acknowledged that this situation wasn’t fair given the original advice to the board was to carry over budget to deliver large-scale projects.

·        Minor Projects

o   Discussed Takapuna bus stop upgrades

o   Bus layover in central Takapuna (Huron Street) not ideal – suggest Fred Thomas Dr may be a more appropriate location.

o   Suggest better layovers for Auckland City central from Takapuna.

o   Clarified budget allocation between Eke Panuku and Auckland Transport.

o   Clarified the prioritization criteria and the different variables Auckland Transport uses to identified needs.

o   Acknowledge the disabilities encourage thinking about accessibility with all Auckland Transport projects.

·        Community response:

o   Clarification on the community long-list of projects, and requested AT share the complete list and estimated figures for projects.

·        Road Safety

o   Clarified demographics are taken into account in road safety projects – AT collaborate with Police and Accident Compensation Corporation, plenty of research is done to identify high-risk groups.

o   Concern for safety issues in Milford Town Centre at crossing on Kitchener Road. Auckland Transport are aware and monitoring.

o   Sought clarification on project completion reviews and assessments completed by Auckland Transport

o   Voiced concerns for crossing issue at Victoria Road intersection causing parking problems for local residence.

o   Clarification on road surface repair/maintenance reviews and cost by Auckland Transport

o   Bayswater Ferry Terminal – no updates to bring to the board since last workshop in July.

o   Concern for the lack of woman on the board of directors. Auckland Transport clarified the appointment process sits with Council and encouraged the board to advocate.

o   Requested trackless trams be trialed in the local board area.

Next Steps:

·        Summary of points raised by the local board will come back to the board with next steps.

·        Pass on any other questions to AT staff.

 

 

 

 

 

The Workshop finished at 2.11pm
