Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.

Governance role: Keeping informed Proposed Outcome/s: Receive update on progress The local board was provided with an introduction to the Community Patrols New Zealand (CPNZ), North Shore Neighbourhood Support (NSNS) and Bluelight. · CPNZ informed the board of their work programme and partnership with NZ police. · CPNZ informed the board that they are currently developing long term strategy. · Bluelight informed the board of their work programme with youth · CPNZ acknowledge the benefits of the recently installed CCTV cameras in Waiwharariki and relationship with the Takapuna Beach Business Association and NZ police · NSNS informed the board of its work programme, history and recent changes to its legal status. · Acknowledge that there are challenges with our vulnerable communities and homeless.
The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation: · CPNZ o Acknowledge the work done by volunteers o Clarity around CPNZ use of data they are given by NZ police, as well as the number of patrols to support, times of patrols, and effectiveness. o Clarity around CPNZ role, they are eyes and ears and report back to the NZ police on any serious issues o Clarity on CPNZ’s vehicle equipment and branding. They are not NZ police staff o Local knowledge is important for their patrols o CPNZ generally do not visit every site on foot but can call on the NZ police for support if required
· NSNS o Clarity of the organisation legal status and increased staffing levels
· Bluelight o Clarified the benefits of an establish relationship with NZ Defence force. o Confirmation that the programe can enable youth to achieve NCEA credits.
· General o Clarity around CCTV responsibilities and access aside from NZ police o Confirmed that Liquor ban infringement notices are issued, but the opportunities also taken to educate on alcohol harm and appropriate behaviour o Confirmed that the Crime Prevention Fund was a one off programme
Next Steps · The Local Board welcomes further communication with the workshop participants.

Play Plan: Review of draft Presenter/s: Jacqueline Collins Play Portfolio Lead
Governance role: Keeping informed Proposed Outcome/s: Receive update on progress
The local board was provided with an update to Play Plan Draft and seeking feedback.
The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation: · Provided suggestions of play opportunities including Mudslides, intergenerational play, fenced off play areas and stop and play activities, eg hop scotch, and tree swings · Suggested a shortened Play plan using visual prompts · Concerns raised regarding lack of play in urban environments
Next Steps · Revised plan to be presented at a future Business meeting for approval. This document will help guide future work programmes. |
