Members are reminded of the need to be vigilant to stand aside from decision making when a conflict arises between their role as a member and any private or other external interest they might have.
Chair M Royal advised that she was now co-chancellor at Auckland University of Technology Council.

Resolution number NGA/2024/23 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson Cr D Simpson, seconded by Cr A Dalton: That the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board: a) kohuki / consider an extraordinary item Takaparawhai cliff stabilisation at Item 8.1 – Consideration of Extraordinary Items of this agenda, noting: i) the reason/s the matter was not on the agenda was to enable Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, projects and ii) the reason why this matter cannot be delayed until a subsequent meeting is a budget decision needs to be made. |

Resolution number NGA/2024/27 MOVED by Deputy Chairperson Cr D Simpson, seconded by Cr A Dalton: That the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board: a) whakaae / approve the Takaparawhau cliff stabilisation exploratory work programme which will · Enhance slope stability, to protect natural and built assets · Understand support and work with natural systems (especially ecology and water) i.e. adopt a systems thinking approach · Look at the system as a whole – take a holistic approach · Establish resilient biodiversity that assists slope stability. b) whakaae / approve reprioritisation of the long term plan budget to deliver the work c) whakanuia / acknowledge this project has been prioritised due to its significant impact on the natural environment and previous damage to the Western side of Takaparawhau. |

Te Mihi | Acknowledgements
The Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board wished to acknowledge Te Kawau waka and the crew from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei who travelled over to Barcelona, Spain to participate in the 37th America’s Cup. Over the course of more than a month, Te Kawau and kaihoe escorted Emirates Team New Zealand to each race, while kaihaka performed in various events. The crew included rangatahi and kaumātua, and was funded by Emirates Team New Zealand and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust.
The Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board wished to acknowledge and sincerely thank Levi Makoare and Ephraim Irvine for their quick and effective response in performing CPR and first aid on their work colleague at Pourewa this month. Their swift actions were not only courageous but ultimately played a crucial role in saving their colleague’s life, and for that, the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board are deeply grateful.
Finally, the Chair M Royal and Deputy Chair Cr D Simpson wished to acknowledge and thank the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Reserves Board and the staff for their mahi over the calendar year.
Member Wyllis Maihi closed the meeting with a mihi and a karakia.
6.01pm The chairperson thanked members for their attendance and attention to business and declared the meeting closed.
