Summary of Discussions:

 

Pukekohe Civic Hub enhancements project: The board considered the options presented and expressed a preference for a canopy solution that enabled connection with the town hall and could also be closed in to provide wind protection. Focus on usable space, less focus on pedestrian transit. Further proposal development time will be needed.

 

Pukekohe Market Precinct update: proposals were reviewed. Concern was expressed regarding paving choice as some pavers are slippery, and some designs can be confusing to the eye. The board requested action on a change of designation to the area.

Road closure plans for market use: the board noted the full area needs to be available for a functional market.

Te Ara Hikoi - Predator Free Franklin update

Summary of Discussions:

The board were updated by Predator Free Franklin and their progress towards being predator free by 2050. The group are under budget pressure, and are seeking more sustainable sources of funding. The board requested options to be presented at another session.

 

 

Note: At this point in proceedings, the workshop closed to the public for the following reasons: This workshop is being held with the public excluded as discussion may include approximate figures which could compromise a competitive sales process.

 

 

 

 

Item 4

LB Annual Plan WS 3 Recap Annual Budget regional topics and Annual Budget input

Governance role: Setting direction/priorities/budget

 

Summary of Discussions:

Staff presented a recap on Annual Budget regional topics and discussed local board input.

Further discussions will take place next week when the Mayoral Proposal is received.

 

Initial commentary raised on the following topics:

·       Kiwirail rental charges per month

·       New bus services: Franklin are expecting new routes to fit to new electric train timetables.

Noting express bus services will be needed during rail closures 2025 to effectively replace trains

·       Visitor bed levy –The board could advocate for this.

·       APTR proposal, which previously faced legal challenges.

Cemeteries: noting increases

Dog fee increases - possible impacts. Check for any changes for working dog fees.
