Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Shepherd’s Park, Beach Haven – playground renewal; the Leiden Reserve – playground concept design; and the Fernglen Reserve concept.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

Leiden Reserve:

·     Concerns raised about playground shade costs, geo-technical requirements, and design considerations for slides and swings.

·     Members emphasised budget constraints but agreed on detailed designs proceeding to avoid additional costs.

·     Recommendations for native planting and design revisions to enhance user-experience while keeping costs in check.

Next steps:

·     A report will come to the 19 February 2025 business meeting for the board to provide feedback.

 

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

Shepherd’s Park, Beach Haven:

·     Discussion on tree planting and minimising maintenance costs.

·     Agreement on low-native planting along pathways.

·     Emphasis on avoiding costly frequent maintenance while enhancing natural aesthetics.

Next steps:

A report will come to the 19 February 2025 business meeting for the board to provide feedback.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

Fernglen Reserve:

·     Support for implementing committee’s prioritised changes, including improved signage, playground upgrades, and fern hut sprinkler systems.

·     Members suggested plinth signs with maps for better user experience.

Next steps:

·     A report will come to the 19 February 2025 business meeting for the board to provide feedback.

The local board was provided with an update on the Kaipātiki Annual Grants Allocation Workshop (2024/2025) – Round One.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·     Equitable distribution of funds across clubs and organisations.

·     Clarification on redirecting some to other funding opportunities.

·     Mapping community upcycling projects to align with climate change goals.

Next steps:

·     Funding allocation decisions will be made at the 20 November business meeting.

Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Local Board Annual Planning Workshop 3.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·     Queries on major projects like Northcote redevelopment and associated risks.

·     Discussion on funding for events and the financial implications of bed levies versus targeted rates (APTR).

·     Requested further analysis on economic returns and emission reductions related to funding allocations.

Next steps:

·     The local board to consider the Mayor’s proposal and provide feedback at the next workshop and business meeting on 20 November 2024.
