Purpose of the report
1. To present the Waitākere Ranges Local Board workshop agenda for 14 November 2024.

Executive summary
2. Most workshops are open to the public to attend as observers in person.
3. Some sessions may not be open to the public. The staff / chairperson and deputy chairperson decide which sessions are open to the public, depending on the sensitivity of the information being discussed. If a session is not open, a reason will be provided below.
a) Accountability to the public
b) Engagement
c) Input to regional decision-making
d) Keeping informed
e) Local initiative / preparing for specific decisions
f) Oversight and monitoring
g) Setting direction / priorities / budget.
6. Workshops do not have decision-making authority.
7. Workshops are used to canvass issues, prepare local board members for upcoming decisions and to enable discussion between elected members and staff.
8. Members are respectfully reminded of their Code of Conduct obligations with respect to conflicts of interest and confidentiality.
9. The following will be covered in the workshop:
Item 1 – Local Board Annual Planning workshop 3 - Recap Annual Budget regional topics + Annual Budget input |
10.30am-12.30pm Presenter/s: Brett Lane, Senior Advisor; Natasha Yapp, Advisor; Louisa Vaeluaga, Engagement Advisor; David Rose, Lead Financial Advisor. Purpose: To provide a recap on Annual Budget regional topics and discuss local board input. Proposed Outcome/s: Draft local board input into Annual Budget consultation (in preparation for feedback on the Mayors Proposal) Attachment/s: Attachment [A] – Local Board Annual Planning 3: Annual Planning Regional Topics Recap |
Item 2 – Quick Response Round 1 - Waitakere Ranges Local Board |
1.15pm-2.45pm Presenter/s: Bilin Lee, Grants Advisor
Purpose: To review the 2024/2025 Quick Response Round 1 applications. Proposed Outcome/s: To fund, part fund or decline the Quick Response Round 1 applications. |
Item 3 – Parks and Community Facilities Monthly Update and Local Parks Ecological Volunteering and Environmental Programmes Update |
2.45pm-3.45pm Presenter/s: Greer Clarke, Manger Area Operations; Helen Biffin, Work Programme Lead; Brad Congdon, Parks and Places Specialist; Trish Kirkland-Smith, Volunteering and Programmes Team Manager; Kim Morris, community park ranger.
Purpose: To provide the board with a monthly update. Proposed Outcome/s: The board is informed.
