Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Local Board Forward Works Engagement Programme (The Year Ahead FY2025/26).

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:.

·     Raised the need for bus shelters in Bayview, Glenfield, and Tōtara Vale

·     Concerns were voiced about school fights at particular major bus stations used by students in the local community.

·     Suggestions to move the Kauri Glen crossing for improved safety

·     The Verran/Verbena Road intersection was highlighted as a priority for pedestrian crossings and safety enhancements.

·     Discussions centered on issues with Onewa Road, particularly wear from buses.

·     Request for enhanced engagement with local boards during upgrades.

·     Questions about inconsistent bus stop design and lighting in various areas, with AT aiming for uniformity moving forward.

Next steps:

·     Next workshop on 11 December 2024 to discuss potential Local Board Transport Capital Fund Projects.

The local board was provided with an update from Eke Panuku and Kāinga Ora.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·     Suggestions for temporary hub use were discussed, with potential challenges outlined.

·     Support for events such as the Onepoto Primary School Festival, movies in the park (14 March), and cultural celebrations (5 April).

·     Encouraged further engagement with local businesses and cultural groups for Northcote community events.

·     Highlighted need for strategic solutions to manage

Next steps:

·     Work alongside the Local Board to ensure successful execution of upcoming events.

·     Engagement with developers to finalise plans and timelines for the Northcote redevelopment and provide regular updates to stakeholders on the progress.

Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on potential provisions for Stormwater Management.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·     Questions raised over high levels of contamination in stormwater in some streams and how these could be addressed.

·     Request for monitoring to evolve into actionable intervention strategies.

·     Suggestions included targeted monitoring, smoke testing, and community education to identify and address contamination sources.

·     Concerned raised over need for dredging high-priority ponds (dredging has been scheduled, but costs are significant).

·     Calls for enhanced communication with businesses and residents regarding maintenance schedules, benefits, and shared responsibilities.

·     Suggestions to produce educational materials to inform the community about water quality efforts and preventive actions.

Next steps:

·     Schedule workshops to discuss intervention in particular areas.

Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Local Consultation Content.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·       Discussions surrounding local engagement events and suggestions to revisit previous events that received positive feedback from the community.

·       Proposal to establish a regular workshop slot for community groups.

·       Requested inclusion of Sport and Recreation grants and minor word changes to the draft local consultation content.

Next steps:

·       A report will come to the 4 December 2024 business meeting for the board to provide feedback.
