Resolution number PPK/2024/193 MOVED by Chairperson B Catchpole, seconded by Member G Hawkins: That the Papakura Local Board: a) acknowledge Ms Anne Candy (Ngāiterangi, Waikato-Tainui), Manukau City Councillor from 1995 until 2010 and Deputy Mayor of Manukau from 1998 to 2007. Ms Candy chaired the Manukau City Council’s Environmental Hearings Committee from 2007 to 2010 and was an elected member of the Counties Manukau District Health Board from 2008 to 2010. She has been a member of Manurewa Local Board since 2019. She was a Review Panel member for the External Review of Maternity Care in the Counties Manukau District for the DHB in 2012. She has contributed in various ways to Ngāti Te Ata, supporting parents and whānau in education, health, housing, te reo Māori, cultural heritage, the wellbeing of tamariki, and environmental protection. She was appointed by the Māori Women’s Welfare League as an inaugural Trustee of the Water Utility Consumer Assistance Trust in 2011. She co-founded in 2005 and has chaired the Taonga Education Centre Charitable Trust, helping establish the Potiki Early Childhood Centre and Parents Unit in 2006 and Te Kopu Inc’s Te Kahui Iti Nei Early Childhood Centre in 2008. She served as Bishop’s Commissary to Te Pihopa o Te Tai Tokerau from 2002 to 2023. Mrs Candy was patron of the Manurewa RSA from 1998 to 2018 and has been patron of the Manukau National Council of Women since 2002. One of her proudest achievements while serving as a councillor was being instrumental in the naming of Te Irirangi Drive and it has been her advocacy directly that has seen the Orange Sky bring their free washing facilities for the homeless to Manurewa. Trustee for Wiri licensing trust. Anne’s advocacy and tireless dedication to the community is unmatched and I’m sure everyone who has had the honour of serving alongside you will agree. We wish you all the best in retirement. Thank you.

Resolution number PPK/2024/194 MOVED by Chairperson B Catchpole, seconded by Deputy Chairperson J Robinson: That the Papakura Local Board: a) acknowledge the 160th Anniversary of the establishment of the first The New Zealand Cadet Corps (NZCC), commonly known as Army Cadets at the Otago Boy’s High School in 1864. This milestone is significant for the NZCC and the NZCF. To acknowledge the 160th anniversary of the New Zealand Cadet Corps, a commemorative coin has been produced for presentations with NZCC Units. The coin design will feature the current NZCC badge on one side, and the 1900’s first unified Cadet Corps badge (Public School Cadet) on the other, with colours representing the Union Jack. The coin will also display the dates 1864 to 2024, the NZCF values, and the inscription “New Zealand Cadet Corps.” This coin will serve as a tangilble symbol of their heritage and the enduring legacy of the NZCC. This coin was awarded to their highest performing cadets across the year for awards such as: Top Recruit, Most improved, Best Turnout, and Top Cadet.

Auckland Transport Update for the Papakura Local Board – December 2024 |

Resolution number PPK/2024/197 MOVED by Chairperson B Catchpole, seconded by Member F Auva'a: That the Papakura Local Board: a) whiwhi / receive the Auckland Transport Update – December 2024 in Attachment A Bayvista Traffic Issues b) request Auckland Transport progress the installation of splitter islands at Bayvista Drive c) request Auckland Transport to install temporary restriction or advisory information on certain classes of vehicles to restrict heavy vehicles d) note that Auckland Transport continues to work with Auckland Council to progress the substantive changes that will see the construction of other roads in the area e) requests assurances from Auckland Transport of its continued support for ensuring the designated route to extend Hinau Road to Park Estate Road is used as the main connection into the Park Green development as the board is concerned that Ngakoro Road will continue to be used as the main connection into the Park Green Development Takanini School Road safety measures outside the Gurdwara Sikh Temple
f) notes the advice that no parking zones will extend for eight metres on either side of the entrances to the Gurdwara Sikh Temple on Takanini School Road and looks forward to process being expedited through the resolution process Hunua Road / Papakura Marae Entrance
g) notes the option to remove parking on one side of Hunua Road to create enough room to accommodate a flush medium to allow safer turning into the marae entrance Clevedon Road pedestrian crossing
h) notes the two options being considered for the Clevedon Road raised pedestrian crossing and looks forward to receiving an update on the final recommendation: i) Option one: convert the raised pedestrian crossing to an at-grade signalised pedestrian crossing
ii) Option two: remove the raised pedestrian crossing and signalise the adjacent Grove / Clevedon Road intersection which will include pedestrian crosswalks on all approaches
i) request AT to urgently provide a revised assessment of the options and report to the board as soon as possible
Road Width Guidelines
j) requests a review of the Transport Design Manual and the Auckland Unitary Plan to increase minimum road widths in new subdivisions to require indented on street parking and onsite parking that does not compromise footpath usage k) request a report back from AT and NZTA on ways of reducing the long queues on Beach Road for traffic waiting to get on the Southern and Northern motorway on-ramps and its impact on adjacent roads.
