Local Board Workshop

Item 1 – 1.30-2.00pm

Local Board Time

Presenter/s:                  Members and staff

 

Purpose:                       An opportunity for staff to update members, the chair to update members and members to update each other.

·       Members were given general updates and reminders from Staff.

Item 2 – 2.00-3.00pm

Licensing and Compliance

Proposed Outcome/s:   Discuss animal control issues. Be presented with options for an action plan and some pilot programmes that could be implemented in Manurewa.

 

Summary of Discussions

·       Staff set the scene of the roaming dog and animal control issues in Manurewa and wider South Auckland.

·       There has been an increase in dog attacks, roaming dogs and aggressive dog behaviour towards other animals and people.

·       Staff discussed possible options, including a desexing campaign or increased funding for more animal control officers/community management roles.

Item 3 – 3.00-4.00pm

Local Board Transport Capital Fund

Proposed Outcome/s:   Be briefed on potential available additional funding and discuss what projects could be commenced within the upcoming financial year.

 

Summary of Discussions

·       Local board direction on the Local Board Transport Capital Fund included in principle supporting the funding required for Roy’s Road and Dennis Ave traffic calming and two new projects - Finlayson Avenue roundabout upgrade and Scenic Drive speed calming.

·       The board also highlighted the importance of addressing issues on Hyperion Drive and Dennis Ave.

·       The local board will be approving their direction on the Local Board Transport Capital Fund at their business meeting on 20 February 2025.

·       The board also gave feedback that the removal of carparks will not fix the issue of speeding on Dennis Ave and would like to gain feedback from the public regarding carpark minimisation.
