Local Board Workshop

 

 

 

Session 1

Finding Franklin Bats

Purpose:                       Update the board on latest information from Finding Franklin Bats - summer bat surveys, recent community and iwi engagement and participation.

Governance role:          Oversight and monitoring

Summary of Discussions:      

                                      The board were updated on the Finding Franklin Bats programme activity in areas between Waiuku and Pukekohe, including a new site that has been identified.

Session 2

 Youth Leadership Council

                                      Emma Helmich, Specialist Advisor, Youth Specialist

                                     

Purpose:                       Share insight report from the PYLC and share proposal for future additional funding for the 25/26 work programme

Governance role:        Setting direction/priorities/budget

Summary of Discussions:      

                                      The Board were updated on the work done to support and develop the Pukekohe Youth Leadership Council, as well as what has been done in the Waiuku and Wairoa wards. Plans for the next year were demonstrated. The board would like to see the youth council at a workshop this year.

 

 

 

Session 3

Election Year Protocols

Presenter/s:                  Manoj Ragupathy, Local Area Manager

Purpose:                       Reminding the board of policies and protocols for the 2025 election year.

Governance role:          Keeping informed

Summary of Discussions:

                                      The Local Area Manager reviewed the key council policies for staff and current elected members in an election year.

Session 4

Parks and Community Facilities WP update

Purpose:                       Update the board on the PCF work programme and projects

Governance role:          Oversight and monitoring

Summary of Discussions       

                                      Board updated on the PCF work programme and project delivery status; including the summer beach programmes, illegal camping on the Awhitu peninsula, lease renewal updates, Franklin the Centre maintenance work, the Ray Fausett Reserve playground, Hūnua Trails update and a Pohutukawa Coast Trail update. Possible projects for the Opex FY2026-2028 were noted for consideration.

Session 5

Local Parks Volunteering & Programmes update

Purpose:                       Update on local parks ecological volunteering work and achievements, volunteer group aspirations and planning for 2025, and the delivery of Natural Environment Targeted Rate funded programmes that local volunteers, community groups and schools participate in.

                                      The Board were updated on the local Franklin parks ecological volunteering and environmental programme activities
