Awhitu Landcare - Te Korowai o Papatuaanuku Presenter/s: Kartik Bhat, Relationship Advisor Sarah Mansell, GM Awhitu Landcare Lisa
Field, Awhitu Landcare Ben Paris, Conservation Advisor Purpose: To present to the Franklin Local Board the success of Te Korowai o Papatuuaanuku Governance role: Oversight and monitoring Summary of Discussions: Awhitu Landcare updated the board on their strategic plan and then covered off work undertaken in the areas of: · protecting and restoring native forest · control of invasive pest animals · control of invasive pest plants · minimising harm from key pathogens · identifying, monitoring and preserving native wildlife.

Glenbrook Beach Beachfront playground proposed concept design Presenter/s: Jason Lee, Senior Project Manager Jason Hogan, Principal Landscape Architect Kristen Greenfield Parks and Places Specialist (online)
Purpose: Approval in principal of the concept design for proceeding to detailed design and construction. Governance role: Setting direction/priorities/ budget Summary of Discussions: The board would like the project to move ahead, with some minor amendments such as incorporating a basketball hoop, use of logs, and locating picnic tables under the shade of trees. A report will be presented to the board at the March business meeting for resolution.

Franklin Paths update Presenter/s: Mayur Chauhan, Purpose: Update on progress of the Franklin Paths project Governance role: Oversight and monitoring Proposed Outcome/s: The board were updated on the progress of the Franklin Paths project; such as designing assessment criteria, working groups, communication and engagement needs and evaluation processes. The board emphasized the need to progress some easy proposals as soon as possible, while designing for the longer term.

Corbett , Snr Communications & Engagement Advisor Purpose: Review pedestrian crossing options for Massey/Roulston and Hall/King Streets Governance role: Setting direction/priorities/budget Summary of Discussions: Pedestrian crossing options for Massey/Roulston and Hall/King Streets in Pukekohe were reviewed. The board indicated their support for the Hall/King Street proposal. The board wish to see more hard research and options for the Massey / Roulston crossing option, citing concerns for student road crossing safety.

Te Ara Rangatahi update Presenter/s: Kahuatairangi Waipouri Emma Helmich, Speclalist Advisor, Youth Specialist Purpose: Update the board updated on the activities of Te Ara Rangatahi. Governance role: Keeping informed/setting direction Summary of Discussions: The Board were updated on the current approach to assisting rangatahi taken by the Waiuku-based group. The focus is now to assist fewer people and gain better results for the long term, guided by principles including whanaungatanga, whakamana, mana Motuhake and mauri ora. Outcomes include participation in education, employment, learner/restricted/full licenses, soft skill development, short course qualifications, NZ ID and cultural connection.
