Local Board Workshop

Note 1: This workshop has been called by the chairperson in consultation with the staff.
Note 2: No working party/workshop may reach any decision or adopt any resolution unless specifically delegated to do so.
Te take mō te pūrongo
1. To present the Whau Local Board workshop agenda for 12 February 2025.
Whakarāpopototanga matua
2. Most workshops are open to the public to attend as observers in person.
3. Some sessions may not be open to the public. The staff / chairperson and deputy chairperson decide which sessions are open to the public, depending on the sensitivity of the information being discussed. If a session is not open, a reason will be provided below.
4. Local Board workshops provide an opportunity for local boards to carry out their governance role in the following areas:
a) Accountability to the public
b) Engagement
c) Input to regional decision-making
d) Keeping informed
e) Local initiative / preparing for specific decisions
f) Oversight and monitoring
g) Setting direction / priorities / budget.
5. Workshops do not have decision-making authority.
6. Workshops are used to canvass issues, prepare local board members for upcoming decisions and to enable discussion between elected members and staff.
7. Members are respectfully reminded of their Code of Conduct obligations with respect to conflicts of interest and confidentiality.

Item 1 - Annual BID update to local board |

10.30am – 12.00pm
Presenter/s: Gill Plume, Senior BID Advisor Claire Siddens, Principal BID Advisor Alexander Croft, Senior Advisor
Purpose: As part of the BID Policy (2022), each BID needs to update their local board on their current and future activities as part of their annual compliance requirements. It provides an opportunity for all local board members to hear directly from each BID in their area and consider if there are opportunites for collaboration and information sharing.
Outcome: Local board members are aware of the activities that each BID within their area is involved in.
Governance role: Keeping informed.

Item 2 - Te Whau Pathway Project |

Presenter/s: Gill Thurlow, Local Parks Pathway Lead Tony Miguel, Chair, Te Whau Pathway Environment Trust Gilbert Brakey, Deputy Chair of Te Whau Pathway Environment Trust Mark Youngs, Construction Project Manager
Purpose: To update the board on the project, including: · Construction update · Proposal for Portage Event · Water Quality
Outcome: The board is aware of that project status and what is coming up and can feedback on what is proposed for delivery in 2024
Governance role: Keeping informed.

Presenter/s: Howell Davies, Principal Specialist - Urban Ngahere (Forest) David Stejkal, Regional Arborists & Ecological Manager Shane Hogg, Manager Area Operations
Purpose: To provide options to the board for delivery in 2024/2025 and discuss direction for 2025/2026 work programme.
Outcome: The Urban Ngahere "Knowing" phase is complete. The local board considers rescoping the deliverables under the work programme line or/and budget reallocation.
Governance role: Keeping informed.

Item 4 - Local Board Transport Capital Fund |

Presenter/s: Peter Naber, Elected Member Relationship Partner Raman Sing, Senior Transportation Engineer
Purpose: To brief the board on potential available additional funding (if any) and what projects to commence within the upcoming financial year.
Outcome: As per purpose, plus likely business report to adjust LBTCF setting to fit, if changed.
Governance role: Keeping informed.
