āhukahuka / acknowledge
the courage, common sense and solidarity that Council staff and Pride
organisers exhibited at the Te Atatū
Peninsula Community Centre last Saturday during the appalling assault by
Destiny Church members and supporters on the Te Atatū Peninsula
Community Centre and Library protesting two Pride events being held at the
facility.

Council’s support for Auckland Pride 2025 is part of our city’s
commitment to embrace and celebrate all of Auckland/ Tāmaki
Makaurau’s people regardless of their ethnicity, gender or sexuality.
This year’s Auckland Pride has the theme Tetahi Ki Tetahi, - “to
one another and each other”. A very important message for our city with
all its rich diversity.

is that the matter
came to light after the close of the agenda, and

the reason
for urgency is that a serious incident occurred
when individuals from the Destiny Church violently disrupted an event at the
Te Atatū Peninsula Community Centre and put the wellbeing and safety of
the community and staff who were present at risk.

bylaw would be clearer and simpler.
