That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)          āhukahuka / acknowledge the courage, common sense and solidarity that Council staff and Pride organisers exhibited at the Te Atatū Peninsula Community Centre last Saturday during the appalling assault by Destiny Church members and supporters on the Te Atatū Peninsula Community Centre and Library protesting two Pride events being held at the facility.

b)         tuhi ā-taipitopito / note Council’s support for Auckland Pride 2025 is part of our city’s commitment to embrace and celebrate all of Auckland/ Tāmaki Makaurau’s people regardless of their ethnicity, gender or sexuality. This year’s Auckland Pride has the theme Tetahi Ki Tetahi, - “to one another and each other”. A very important message for our city with all its rich diversity.

Extraordinary Business - Notice of Motion - Member B Loader - Safety in Community Facilities

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)          kohuki / consider an extraordinary item regarding a Notice of Motion – Safety in Community Facilities at item 19.1 of this agenda:

 

i)           the reason the matter was not on the agenda is that the matter came to light after the close of the agenda, and

 

ii)         the reason for urgency is that a serious incident occurred when individuals from the Destiny Church violently disrupted an event at the Te Atatū Peninsula Community Centre and put the wellbeing and safety of the community and staff who were present at risk.

A Notice of Motion was tabled for the board’s consideration. A copy has been placed on the official minutes and is available on the Auckland Council website as a minutes attachment.

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)          tono / request that the Chief Executive provides advice in time for the next business meeting on how the local board can ensure that community facility users or hirers align with Council values and ensure staff and user safety.

Approval for three new public road names and the extension of three existing public road names at 104 Fred Taylor Drive, Whenuapai (Development Stage 2)

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

c)          whakaae / approve as follows names for the extension of three public roads created by way of subdivision undertaken by New South Development Limited at 104 Fred Taylor Drive, Whenuapai, in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent references BUN60419881, SUB60419883, road naming reference RDN90120734).

i)           Tarapuka Road (Road 1)

ii)         Mahogany Street (Road 2)

iii)        Kiekie Street (Road 3).

d)         whakaae / approve the following names for the three new public roads below created by way of subdivision undertaken by New South Development Limited at 104 Fred Taylor Drive, Whenuapai, in accordance with section 319(1)(j) of the Local Government Act 1974 (resource consent references BUN60419881, SUB60419883, road naming reference RDN90120734).

Local board views on proposed plan change 106 for filming on Sites and Places of Significance to Mana Whenua

a)      whiwhi / receive the feedback on proposed plan change 106.

b)      tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that Te Kawerau ā Maki are crucial as mana whenua to the Henderson-Massey Local Board, and we would value their feedback on this plan change.

Public feedback report on the traffic bylaw review

MOVED by Chairperson C Carter, seconded by Member O Kightley:  

That the Henderson-Massey Local Board:

a)          tuhi ā-taipitopito / note that the majority of comments on the main proposal for the traffic bylaw review from Henderson-Massey respondents were positive, saying it made sense and a joint bylaw would be clearer and simpler.

b)         whakaae / agree with the public feedback supporting the proposed changes on the traffic bylaw review.
