Rosetta and Val
provided an update on the Whau Ethnic Peoples Plan to the board and answered
questions from members. Jo Cocker provided an overview of digital equity
statistics and digital senior staff lead a presentation on problems related
to senior digital exclusion highlighting their work in North and East
Auckland.

Transport staff presented public consultation reports on the Safe walking and

8 – Update on Safety on West Coast Beaches

Summary of
Discussions
Surf
lifesaving staff provided updates on statistics related to surf lifesaving on
the West Coast, alongside measures being undertaken from surf lifesaving in
relation to drowning prevention. Drowning prevention staff provided an
overview of education and community engagement being undertaken around
Auckland. Additionally, staff discussed future plans to address drowning
prevention and outlined the various reviews being undertaken including the
end of season review, post Piha event operational review and club coastal
safety reviews.
