Item 1 – Community Wellbeing Quarterly Update

Summary of Discussions:

Staff provided a range of updates, including performance updates from Libraries and community hubs and community places and arts. Other updates were presented by staff representing our community, our people, and our places.

Item 2 – Western Water Supply Programme Update

Summary of discussions:

Staff discussed the western water supply programme including updating the board on the Huia Water Treatment Plant and raw water presenting various option assessments to the board.

Item 3 – Waitākere Ranges Play Plan 2024 - feedback on draft

Summary of Discussions

Staff discussed the Waitākere Ranges Play Plan, members provided feedback and asked questions concerning the plan.

Item 4 – Building digital literacy capacity for seniors and the Whau Ethnic Peoples Plan Update

Summary of Discussions

Rosetta and Val provided an update on the Whau Ethnic Peoples Plan to the board and answered questions from members. Jo Cocker provided an overview of digital equity statistics and digital senior staff lead a presentation on problems related to senior digital exclusion highlighting their work in North and East Auckland.

Item 5 – Auckland Transport Slip Repairs Recovery Update

Summary of Discussions

Staff discussed slip repair updates over December and January and updated the board on current and future recovery projects.

 Item 6 – Auckland Transport: Safe walking and cycling improvements Kelston, New Lynn and Glen Eden - public consultation report

Summary of Discussions

Auckland Transport staff presented public consultation reports on the Safe walking and cycling improvements from Kelston to Glen Eden and answered questions from the board regarding future plans for this project.

 Item 7 – Auckland Transport Local Board Capital Transport Fund.

Summary of Discussions

Auckland Transport staff discussed projects considered for the Local Board Capital Transport Fund before formal decisions are made in the March Business Meeting.

 Item 8 – Update on Safety on West Coast Beaches

Presenter/s:                 Thomas Dixon, Principal Parks Advisor Specialist Operations; Scott De Silva, Manager Regional Parks Regional Operations; Greer Clark, Parks and Community Facilities Area Manager; Surf Club staff; Drowning Prevention Auckland Staff; Jame Lee, Operations Manager Surf Lifesaving Northern Region; Ants Lowe, General Manager Operations Drowning Prevention.

Summary of Discussions

Surf lifesaving staff provided updates on statistics related to surf lifesaving on the West Coast, alongside measures being undertaken from surf lifesaving in relation to drowning prevention. Drowning prevention staff provided an overview of education and community engagement being undertaken around Auckland. Additionally, staff discussed future plans to address drowning prevention and outlined the various reviews being undertaken including the end of season review, post Piha event operational review and club coastal safety reviews.
