Parks and Community Facilities (P&CF) monthly update

Proposed Outcome/s: To provide a monthly update on the 2025/2026 Parks & Community Facilities (P&CF) work programme.

Summary of discussions

Staff provided an overview on the on the 2024/2025 Parks & Community Facilities (P&CF) work programme.

The local board provided the following feedback:

·         Mangrove removal- don’t think the $30,000 is doing the job. Would like an overview of what’s being delivered so far.

Action

1.    Alex Overwater-Davis to provide an overview of what juvenile mangrove removal work has been delivered over the last 2 – 3 years and advise the plan for staying on top of mangrove removal, what are the target areas etc.  Alex to also advise what is necessary with cost implications. 

 

2.    Alex Overwater-Davis to ascertain that there is a rubbish bin that should be present at Willis Street Reserve.  Also to check whether it was in the list for removal in the rubbish bin report for March 2025.

 

3.    Melinda Naidoo to follow up on the progress of the Papakura Theatre Company land lease application for the old play group space in Wellington Park.

4.    Melinda Naidoo to advise when the new community lease advisor will be appointed.

5.    Alex Overwater-Davis to urgently advise staff that the local board want to delay the annual maintenance shutdown period of the indoor pool to after the April 2025 school holidays.

6.    Alex Overwater-Davis to find out who is responsible for the Frangipani tree in a road berm, outside the shops on Walter Strevens Drive, its branch is almost touching a private residence and arrange for the matter to be addressed.

7.    Sital Prasad to remind Member Kelvin Hieatt to lodge report a problem issues regarding trees and provide the reference numbers to Alex Overwater-Davis for follow up.

8.    Alex Overwater-Davis to provide the process for reporting issues with trees.
