Summary of Discussions

Parks and Community Facilities staff were in attendance to speak to the board about the CAPEX work programme and the underspend.

Nathan Homestead update

·       The timeframe for the completion of works has been extended past the original date of June 2025 and now is September 2025, due to new information arising during the work. This new date does fall under the 10-15 month estimate that was originally given.

·       Member asked around clarification on whether the September completion date is when work is completed or the reopening of the facility. Staff clarified this will be the completion date for construction, ground work, cleaning up and handover would be another 3-4 weeks.

Manurewa Netball Complex

·       Staff note building two, which is the squash facility, is earthquake prone.

·       Chair asked is lateral movement was also an issue, staff said there is minor work that needs to be done around this.

·       Maintenance for air quality is under control as work has been undertaken to mitigate this.

Te Matariki Clendon Community Centre

·       Assessments are already completed and design is due in September/October.

·       Staff stated it would not be safe to undertake construction with children and community around. This means the building would have to be closed for around 8-9 months minimum.

Financial Year 25 CAPEX

·       Board gave direction to proceed with assigning part of the underspend to fully fund the Rowandale playground project.

·       Chair mentioned Randwick Park skate park, fencing in Randwick Park (tennis courts) and cricket nets at Weymouth Park could be scoped as other options for the underspend.
