Purpose of the report
1. To present the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board workshop agenda for Wed 12 March 2025.

Executive summary
2. Most workshops are open to the public to attend as observers in person or online.
3. Some sessions may not be open to the public. The staff, chairperson and/or deputy chairperson decide which sessions are open to the public, depending on the sensitivity of the information being discussed. If a session is not open, a reason will be provided below.
5. Local Board workshops provide an opportunity for local boards to carry out their governance role in the following areas:
a) Accountability to the public
b) Engagement
c) Input to regional decision-making
d) Keeping informed
e) Local initiative / preparing for specific decisions
f) Oversight and monitoring
g) Setting direction / priorities / budget.
6. Workshops do not have decision-making authority.
7. Workshops are used to canvass issues, prepare local board members for upcoming decisions and to enable discussion between elected members and staff.
8. Members are respectfully reminded of their Code of Conduct obligations with respect to conflicts of interest and confidentiality.

Joint Kainga Ora/ Auckland Transport 10 year transport programme to support brownfield growth in Mangere Presenter/s: Alex Elton-Farr (Elected member relationship), Lorraine Stone (Principal Transport Planner), Carolina Selinar Feitelevich (Programme Director), Zaid Essa (Programme Manager, Kainga Ora) Purpose: Early engagement with Local Board allowing members an opportunity to ask questions, provide comments and direction about programme. Governance role: Keeping informed / Engagement Proposed Outcome/s: Local board gains clarity, is updated and can comment on the joint AT/Kainga Ora 10 year transport programme supporting Kainga Ora's housing development in Mangere. Session 2 – 2.00 – 2.30pm |
Ecological Restoration Contract - Highlighting the work that is and could be done Presenter/s: Jillana Robertson (Senior Ecological Specialist, P&CF) - online/in-person Purpose: To introduce myself and the ERC to local board members and highlight where the work is being done in their area, and to propose special projects that the local board may want to fund. Governance role: Keeping informed Proposed Outcome/s: To create more awareness of the ERC, what it's doing and what more it could do. Following the workshop, members feel comfortable contacting me if they have questions or want to invest more in the ecological space. Attachment/s: B - Ecological Restoration Contract Overview |

IES - Māngere Waterways Restoration update (LBWP line) Presenter/s: Ignacio Quinteros (Relationship Advisor), Katie Jones ( Project Manager Otara), Donna Carter (Healthy Waters Specialist) Purpose: Update from Ōtara Waterways and Lake Trust on delivery of the waterways planting and maintenance program the LB fund for the year to date. Governance role: Keeping informed Proposed Outcome/s: The board will be up to date with progress and have a deeper understanding of how the funding is split across groups that deliver it. IES - Pest Free South Auckland Presenter/s: Baxter Rogers (Conservation Advisor), Ignacio Quinteros (Relationship Advisor) - both in person Purpose: To update the board on Pest Free South Auckland. Governance role: Keeping informed Proposed Outcome/s: The board is updated on Pest Free South Auckland Attachment/s: TBA |

Financial Advisory - Local board budget update and cost pressures – workshop 2 Presenter/s: Manoj Rathod (Lead Financial Advisor) Purpose: Follow up to last week’s workshop - To present local boards with their 2025/2026 budget position and play back of cost pressures post budget refresh exercise. Governance role: Setting direction / priorities / budget Proposed Outcome/s: Local boards are informed on their budget positions, relevant cost pressures, and impacts of potential options, ahead of workshopping their work programmes, and are in the position to give feedback on the Annual Budget where there are local impacts and considerations.
