Resolution number MR/2025/25 MOVED by Chairperson M Winiata, seconded by Deputy Chairperson G Murphy: That the Manurewa Local Board: a) acknowledge the passing of Wattle Downs resident and residents association secretary, Barbara Gerbich, who passed away on Sunday the 16th of March.
Barbara was a voice within the community for many years and submitted many volunteer hours to the Residents Association meetings and events.
The board appreciates the work she did for the community and we pass on our condolences to the Gerbich family. |

Resolution number MR/2025/32 MOVED by Chairperson M Winiata, seconded by Deputy Chairperson G Murphy: That the Manurewa Local Board: a) tuku / provide the following local board views on draft plan change to add approximately 169 trees and 27 groups of trees across the region to Schedule 10, and to the Notable Trees Overlay in the AUP maps. i) tautoko / support policies that grow the urban ngahere across Tamaki Makaurau, particularly in areas of low canopy cover, such as Manurewa ii) tautoko / support in principle the public notification of the trees and reserve the right to provide formal views once community feedback has been received iii) tuhi ā-taipitopito / note the importance of local knowledge in regional strategies and encourage staff to continue to engage with the local board on notable trees.

Resolution number MR/2025/34 MOVED by Chairperson M Winiata, seconded by Member H Andrew: That the Manurewa Local Board: a) whakarite / provide the following feedback on how they would like to be involved in the Southern Rural Strategy to help inform the final version on the document ahead of seeking adoption on 15 May 2025 from the Policy and Planning Committee i) whakatārewa / defer to the Franklin Local Board to lead this work with the understanding that any impact to Manurewa is brought to the Manurewa Local Board for consideration and information ii) tono / request updates to the local board after workshops and at key decision points to ensure the board is aware of outcomes of this work.

Resolution number MR/2025/35 MOVED by Chairperson M Winiata, seconded by Member R McLean: That the Manurewa Local Board: a) tuku / provide the following feedback to Auckland Council’s submission on the Term of Parliament (Enabling 4-year Term) Legislation Amendment Bill i) tautoko / support the transition of the parliamentary term from three to four years to enable more effective policy implementation and better decision making ii) tono / request that if parliamentary term length is extended to four-year cycles, local government terms should also be extended to four-year cycles iii) tono / request that the change to parliamentary term be permanent as changing term length at the beginning of each parliamentary term would cause confusion iv) tono / request alignment of parliamentary and local government timeframes with alternating election cycles every two years to mitigate any impact on voter engagement.
