Purpose of the report
1. To present the Whau Local Board workshop agenda for 2 April 2025.

Executive summary
2. Most workshops are open to the public to attend as observers in person.
3. Some sessions may not be open to the public. The staff / chairperson and deputy chairperson decide which sessions are open to the public, depending on the sensitivity of the information being discussed. If a session is not open, a reason will be provided below.
4. Local Board workshops provide an opportunity for local boards to carry out their governance role in the following areas:
a) Accountability to the public
b) Engagement
c) Input to regional decision-making
d) Keeping informed
e) Local initiative / preparing for specific decisions
f) Oversight and monitoring
g) Setting direction / priorities / budget.
5. Workshops do not have decision-making authority.
6. Workshops are used to canvass issues, prepare local board members for upcoming decisions and to enable discussion between elected members and staff.
7. Members are respectfully reminded of their Code of Conduct obligations with respect to conflicts of interest and confidentiality.

Item 1 - Auckland Transport monthly update |

10.30am-11.15am Presenter/s: Peter Naber, Elected Member Relationship Partner Daryl McIntosh, Head of Major Projects Andrew Bell, Group Manager Rail
Purpose / Outcome: To provide the board with a monthly update, including an update on the Western Line level crossing programme.
Governance role: Keeping informed.

Item 2 – Parks & Community Facilities monthly update |

11.15am-12.15pm Presenter/s: Marcia Velloen, Senior Project Manager Tracey Hodder, Parks & Places Specialist Elvira Kolmychenko, Work Programme Lead
Purpose / Outcome: To provide the Board with a monthly update, including informing the board on current cycle parking provision, propose provision criteria and seek feedback on recommendations

Item 3 - EcoMatters Work Programme Update |

1.00pm – 1.45pm Presenter/s: Robbie Sutherland, Low Carbon Specialist Carla Gee, Ecomatters CE Amirah Rab, Relationship Advisor Purpose: To update board members about the sustainability initiatives that EcoMatters has delivered with funding received via the board's environmental work programme.
Outcome: Board members are informed about the intiatives and environmental outcomes achieved through the board's funding partnership with EcoMatters Environment Trust.

Item 4 - Eke Panuku Placemaking Programming for Avondale FY2025/2026 |
|
|
1.45pm – 2.05pm Presenter/s: Robin Wachsberger, Eke Panuku Placemaker Lisa Gooding, Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor
Purpose: To introduce the new Eke Panuku Placemaker, present the Draft FY2025/2026 Eke Panuku Avondale Placemaking Programme and seek input from the Whau Local Board on opportunities, local considerations, partnerships, and awareness to guide work plans in the coming year.
Outcome: For the Local Board to be aware of the draft programme and inputted into the refinement of the programme for the coming year.
