Resolution number PPK/2025/47 MOVED by Chairperson B Catchpole, seconded by Deputy Chairperson J Robinson: That the Papakura Local Board: a) respectfully acknowledge the passing of Pope Francis, a spiritual leader whose humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication to justice left a lasting impact on the Catholic Church and the wider world. As the first pope from the Jesuit order and the Global South, he brought a fresh perspective to the papacy—one rooted in service, inclusion, and deep empathy. Throughout his tenure, Pope Francis championed the dignity of all people, spoke boldly on behalf of the vulnerable, and urged humanity to care for one another and for the Earth. His voice was one of conscience in challenging times, and his legacy will continue to inspire faith, dialogue, and global solidarity.
