Local Board Workshop

Item 1 – 1.30-2.00pm

Local Board Time

Purpose:                       An opportunity for staff and chair to update members and members to update each other.

 

Summary of Discussions

Members and staff discussed general business, received updates from staff and each other and were informed on upcoming events.

Item 2 – 2.00-3.00pm

Connected Communities Quarterly Update (Quarter Three)

Summary of Discussions

Staff gave their quarterly update on the Community Wellbeing work programme lines, as well as events and programmes that they have been delivering and what they hope to deliver in the future.

·       A member asked what the plans were to increase access to venues for Pacific groups as they often have to travel outside the area to access venues.

·       Chairperson asked about the service plan if the two libraries end up being closed at the same time for renewals. Staff responded that they are working with another department to ensure that both libraries are not closed at the same time as they understand it is an essential service for the community.

·       Staff pointed out issues with the lighting in the Manurewa library, that need to be addressed.

LB Annual Planning workshop 7 - AB consultation feedback and input + fees and charges

Summary of Discussions

Staff and the members went through local board consultation feedback, developed local board feedback on the regional consultation topics and discussed advocacy initiatives.

·       A board member raised an issue with the on and off leash signage heading into Totara Park. The member noted that Botanic Gardens have clear signage but since the parks are connected there is easy cross over.
