3          Local Board Workshop

 

 

Session 1

Glenbrook Beach beachfront coastal renewal project

Presenters:                   Matt Heywood, Senior Project Manager

                                      Jo Morris, Senior Coastal Specialist

Purpose:                       To update the board on the current scope of the project and the expected timeline for construction

Governance role:          Keeping informed

Summary of Discussions:

The board were updated on the project development, for repairing or maintaining seawalls at Glenbrook Beach, where walls are in need of repair. Various project changes were highlighted and next steps are now detailed design and construction, expected to take place this calendar year.

Session 2

Ecological Restoration Contract overview

Presenter:                     Jiliana Robertson, Snr Ecological Specialist

Purpose:                       To introduce the ERC to local board members and highlight where the work is being done in their area, and to propose special projects that the local board may want to fund.

Governance role           Setting direction/priorities/budget

Summary of discussions:

The board were provided an update on sites in the board area, which are grouped as High Value or General Value. A four tier system of site maintenance was proposed, listing sites and levels of maintenance (depending on budget availability). A revised costing of the ecological restoration contract was discussed. Final decisions will be made when the Work Programme resolved at a business meeting.

Session 3

Franklin Pool and Leisure Centre discussion: Hosting NBL basketball games

Purpose:                       Keep board informed of commercial use of the Pool and Leisure Centre, a community facility.

Governance role           Oversight and monitoring

Summary of discussions:

The board were provided details of proposed additional basketball franchise use of Franklin Pool and Leisure. The issues of continued community access were discussed for clarification.

Session 4

Community Partnership Programme – Delivery partner updates

Purpose:                       Partner organisations from the Community Partnership programme to present their activities and outcomes to the board.

Governance role:          Oversight and monitoring

Summary of Discussions:

The board received presentations from five community partner groups who received funding towards their community activities, as part of the Community Partnership programme.

Session 5

Franklin ‘Hillguard’ programme

Purpose:                       Local Board members aware of the activity in the board area, to enable informed decision-making.

Governance role:          Oversight and monitoring

Summary of Discussions:

The Hillguard programme and plan was presented to the board, who provided feedback on areas they wanted to see included. This programme would be part of the work programme decision-making.

 

The workshop closed at 3.22pm
