Artist selection and design

Summary of Discussions

Explanation of the process for artist selection and design, how guidance is given to the artist and how the artist is supported.  Need to start with landscape architect with a wide scope, holistic design processes that addresses the things people talked about in engagement – how they want to feel, inclusivity etc.  Noting need for second round of engagement on concept design.

Mana whenua engagement

Purpose:                       Seeking direction on mana whenua engagement in this project

Summary of discussions

Outline of engagement with mana whenua to date, and approach from iwi who would like to meet to discuss the project.  Matekino Marshall from Ngati Tamaoho Trust spoke to this item and confirmed Tamaoho support for the project and for the committee to make decisions.

Oral histories support from Auckland Council

Purpose                        Oral histories support from Auckland Council

Summary of discussions:

Outline of how Auckland Council Libraries can support oral history interviews.  In principle support for this, and to seek additional budget.  Request for AC libraries staff to come to the committee so committee can better understand how data is used.  Need people from committee to be involved with interviewing.  Suggestion to focus on this towards end of the project.

Site survey is underway, weather dependent.

Overall there is a five week project delay due to delays with engagement and the site survey.  33% underspend to date.
