Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Community delivery work programme update Quarter 3 & 4 2024/2025.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·       Emphasised longstanding contribution of KCFT to community development.

·       Expressed concern about ongoing maintenance and structural issues at Highbury House.

·       Proposed joint compliance workshop with Devonport-Takapuna Local Board on community safety.

·       Acknowledged positive contributions of community safety groups.

·       Noted increased library usage and discussed futureproofing in response to urban intensification.

·       Sought feedback on Matariki displays, acknowledging limitations in engagement tracking.

 

Next steps:

·       Staff to action feedback received.

Community Wellbeing – Sport and Recreation

•      Kaipātiki Play Plan 2025 Implementation

Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Kaipātiki Play Plan 2025 Implementation.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·       Requested updates on swing placement across the local board area.

·       Emphasised need for fair distribution of play infrastructure.

·       Encouraged continued engagement with local sports clubs and community groups.

·       Supported story walks and interpretive signage in Kaipātiki.

·       Encouraged coordination with KCFT for October play month.

Summary of Discussions:

The local board was provided with an update on the Birkenhead Avenue/ Onewa Road Intersection Improvement.

The local board raised the following points and questions in response to the presentation:

·       Welcomed proposed widening of footpaths and signal-controlled crossings.

·       Emphasised need for clear pedestrian safety measures and suggested road markings to guide traffic.

·       Urged early and meaningful engagement with local stakeholders.

·       Requested careful consideration of long-term impacts on Zion Road and surrounding community.

 

Next steps:

·       Staff to action feedback received.

·       A report will be written for the 17 September 2025 business meeting to receive formal board views.
