Arts Initiative: Arts Assessment- Manurewa

Summary of discussions

The board provided direction to staff that they support the proposed Arts Assessment Plan for FY 25/26.

The local board provided the following feedback:

·       The configuration of the Manurewa library may not allow for art initiatives

·       Our community are performers and would like a particular focus on Māori and Pasifika art performance as per the local board plan.

Community Wellbeing Presentation: Te Whare Awhina o Tamworth Inc

The board received the annual presentation from Te Whare Awhina o Tamworth Inc.

Te Whare Awhina o Tamworth said that there has been a huge growth over the last year in people using the houses and the need for these houses continues to grow.

The board expressed concern in the quality of Kainga Ora houses being built at the moment.

Summary of discussions

The board provided direction on advice that would be beneficial to the incoming local board post-election on the utilisation of Fairer Funding.

Some of the local board advice included:

·       Do not support having to absorb the cost pressures

·       Worst case scenario would be to absorb the cost

·       Need to consider the multi-board cost when discussing cost pressures

·       Community facilities should be accessible to the community

·       Leave commercial leases alone until the members get advice on south building

·       No to targeted rates.
