Session 1

Greenways Plan scoping discussion

Presenters:                    Chris Charles, Regional Trails Programme Manager

Kristen Greenfield, Parks & Places Specialist

Nina Rattray, Manager Landscape Architects

Purpose:                       To seek agreement on the recommended approach; to gain an understanding of how the findings will inform and support future planning and development of greenways in the Franklin area.

Governance Role:        Setting direction/priorities/budgets

Summary of Discussions:

The board discussed previous local board direction that informed the development of current Greenways plans, and rationale for review of approach e.g. anticipating growth and enabling leverage from development. Possible informal priorities were raised to assist staff with revising the scope of work and delivery proposals.

 

Session 2

Routley Ave Trees

Presenters:                   David Skesjkal, Urban Forest, Arboriculture and Ecology                                                        Manager

                                      Candy Li, Project Manager

Purpose:                       To discuss urban tree planting in light of public feedback around tree size, views, impact from root growth and significant leaf drop issues

Governance Role:        Setting direction/priorities/budgets

Summary of Discussions:

The urban tree planting issues focused on Routley Ave Pukekohe trees were discussed. As a response to community views, proposals for alternative specimen selection (in particular, not liquid amber and jacaranda) and replanting options were discussed. The board noted that it supports planting but in a way that considers community needs/local insights.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Session 3

AUDO Unlock Pukekohe Small T

Purpose:                       To outline options for Small T projects this financial year and next financial year and to seek input from members about their priorities

Governance Role:        Setting direction / priorities/ budget

Summary of Discussions:

The team were requesting input on the following projects:

·       King and Hall Street intersection crossing

·       Pukekohe Plaza carpark improvements (lighting and customer experience

·       Pukekohe welcome sign Lighting of Murals in Town Centre

Session 4

Instagram Trial review

Presenters:                   Kala Clark, Snr Specialist Integrated Communications

                                      Gina Waikari, Specialist Local Communications

                                      Chris Baldock, Manager Local Communication

Purpose:                       Feedback on the Franklin Instagram trial, and next steps

Governance Role:        Oversight and monitoring

Summary of Discussions:

The aim was to focus on young people and Māori in the community; increase visual content; grow understanding of the work the board does; and encourage participation in engagements in a new way. The audience size did not demonstrate a significant return on investment.  Resourcing is insufficient. Other means of increasing the youth audience will be followed up.

Purpose:                       Updates on SH1 Papakura to Drury, SH22 Paerātā roundabout, SH22 Drury upgrade

Governance Role:        Keeping informed

Summary of Discussions:

The following topics were discussed: Bombay Southbound off ramp improvements: SH1 Papakura to Drury open day 29 November; SH22 Drury Upgrade including Ngākōroa Station access road; Paerātā Roundabout/SH22  project  (two roundabouts); Bombay to Pukekohe Commercial Vehicle Safety Centre (CVSC)
